I was fortunate enough to have two bridal showers thrown for me before our wedding. This lovely shower, thrown by my Mom, also featured many tea-time elements like the one I had at DL Loft.
Tea pots & cups decorated the tables along with beautiful flowers from May Floral. My Mom was sure to stock the bar with champagne & bloody Mary’s, a crowd favorite. Guests noshed on little cakes & cookies (some home made by family members, and others purchased from Bennison’s Bakery in Evanston) and a delicious lunch.
The favors that guests received were so sweet & thoughtful. My Mom put together little tea kits including; a few bags of my favorite Harney & Sons tea- Paris, sugar cubes with painted flowers on them, honey sticks, a pretty little spoon & lemon cookies. Dan’s Mom brought sponge candy, a sweet, well-recognized regional oddity for decades in Buffalo, which is where she lived at the time.
I am so thankful for ALL of the wonderful women in my life and the generous gifts I received, though I want to share two in particular that made me ugly cry.
Dan’s Aunt Ellen gave me the most beautiful Ahern heirloom tea spoons and sugar cube tongs, which I use constantly. Another thoughtful gift I received were hand-written family recipes from many of the women in my family on my Dad’s side, including my late Grandmother & Great Grandmother. I will cherish these gifts, as well as the memories I made that day forever.
