Dahlia Field Summer Soiree

2016-01-05_0201

This summer, Kelly, from Nimble Well, called to ask RLP to document of an end of summer dinner party soiree. Having known Kelly for some time now and seeing the level of exquisite taste this talented woman embodies first-hand, I knew immediately that this event was going to be… fantastic.

She regaled me with stories of how her friends Heidi & Molly of Field & Florist (seriously talented ladies) held a farm-to-table dinner event at their dahlia field the previous Fall. While reminiscing about the event months later, the ladies casually talked about doing a dinner party the following summer in the fields when the dahlias were at the height of their bloom.

Summer came and (almost) went.

Kelly had this to say, “When summer’s end fell upon us, we knew it was now or never. We kept the design understated–white linens and chairs, and I matched the menu and decor to the dark green, peachy and pink tones of the dahlias. We had lots of candles which became pretty much the only light after sunset. I loved how the rows and rows of flowers faded around us and the table became the glowing center of the field.”

To say I enjoyed this experience is a complete understatement. I literally got to frolic about in an incredible dahlia field for hours living out ALL of my childhood fantasies. As if that weren’t enough, there was captivating conversation, delicious cocktails in beautiful coupe glasses, a meal so good you could feel all the love that went into it and the beauty of hundreds of dahlias smiling at us as the sun faded into the horizon.

Still swooning over here.
